The current population of Kanpur exceeds 2.5 million. Due to this inflation in population, a decision was taken to form a separate entity that overlooks development affairs. The Kanpur Development Authority was thus constituted under the Urban Development Act (1957) of Uttar Pradesh.

Kanpur stands adjacent to the banks of the River Ganga, and is one a major industrial center of North India, having its own historical and commercial importance. Known as the “Commercial Capital” of the state, the city of Kanpur, in the past, was called the Manchester of the country. 

The big industries in the KESCo region are M/s H.A.L., Field Gun Factory, Ordinance Factory, Small Arms Factory, M/s Lohia Machines Ltd., Tanneries, Ganga Pollution Institute, etc.

The main aim of Kanpur Development Authority is to build and maintain various projects (real estate) in Kanpur city, in order to prove it to be the well-planned city in India. The ease of availability of home loans in India has made everyone more than capable of purchasing his or her own house or property.

Due to its industrial importance, Reserve Bank of India has also opened its branch here. Kanpur plays host to several of the top notch colleges in the country, such as:

How to Reach Kanpur Development Authority

Once you are in the city, reaching KDA is a piece of cake, due to the availability of several local commuting vehicles. Hence the only task that remains is to reach Kanpur.

Kanpur is well-connected to all major cities in India and is located on NH 2 on Delhi-Agra-Allahabad-Calcutta route. It is also connected to all major railway stations of the country. The nearest airport however is 65 kilometers away, located in Amausi, Lucknow.

The city is very well connected to the western cities of the country, such as Mumbai, etc, via NH25.

KDA in the news

Kanpur Development Authority has made some headlines in the recent path. In this month only, KDA was in the news for proposing the expansion of the single-lane road between Kalyanpur and Bithoor, into a 4-lane wide road, to facilitate buttery smooth commuting.

Apart from that, KDA is also about to shift the gravel market from Naubasta to Bingawan village, anytime soon.
